Prayer
for Israel
Administrative
Deaconess Patricia L. Scalzo
O God, our Heavenly Father, we come before You today to
pray for Your nation Israel and for its inhabitants—the Jewish people. Who You called
out so long ago to be Your own special people. You anointed their leaders and
prophets to set down Your Holy Word and they are the nation through whom You
sent the Messiah—the Lord Jesus our salvation. And as a result, all the nations
of the earth have been blessed.
Today, there is a horrific and demonic attack, ongoing,
against the nation of Israel and against the Jewish people throughout this
world. What we are seeing in America on our university campuses and in the
streets of our cities would have been unthinkable when I was a child. The
memories of the Holocaust were still fresh in the minds of every adult, the
phrase “Never Again” deep with meaning. And now, to see so many in our younger
generations and around the world so blinded with hate.
We witnessed the barbaric attacks on October 7th
in Israel that brutalized men, women, families, young children and the elderly,
in ways the civilized world didn’t realize would still be carried out. It
brings us to tears, and we know, O God, it brings great sorrow to You to see
Abraham’s descendants treated this way. And so, we pray for protection for the
Jewish people. That You would wake up
their Christian brethren to stand with them. For Your protection of the nation
of Israel—to be their shield and buckler. That Your
mighty holy angels would deliver them. That You would give their leadership
courage and wisdom. That You would move our nation’s leaders to never abandon
them and to treat them with favor. For as Your Word clearly states, You will bless those who bless Abraham’s descendants and
curse those who curse them. We pray for all who are still being held hostage by
Hamas including Keith Siegel, who has connections to the congregation of Temple
Beth Tikvah, here in Madison. Supernaturally protect them, minister to them,
keep their health strong, and we pray for their quick release. We pray for victory. And for peace to be
restored to Israel. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
And with the authority we have as disciples of the Lord
Jesus Christ, to speak light into the darkness, to truly set God’s people free.
Amen.
